Content Wins Yorkshire Oaks, O'Brien Ties Record

Content Triumphs at Yorkshire Oaks: O'Brien's Ballydoyle Filly Edges Out Rivals in Group One Victory, Marking Galileo's 100th Group One Winner and O'Brien's Ninth Yorkshire Oaks Title.

Content avenged her defeat by You Got To Me in the Irish Oaks by winning the Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks at York.

Being a daughter of Galileo and the dual Nunthorpe winner Mecca's Angel, it seemed only fitting that Aidan O'Brien's filly experienced her greatest moment on the Knavesmire, securing the most significant victory of her career.

In the early stages, Ryan Moore kept Content keen while stablemate Port Fairy, alongside William Haggas' Sea Theme, led the field. Attention turned to Emily Upjohn as the runners entered the straight.

John and Thady Gosden's mare effortlessly took the lead under Kieran Shoemark, but Curragh's top two, You Got To Me and Content (3-1 favorite), remained close as the three contenders locked horns in a thrilling three-way battle in the final stages.

As the finish line neared, Content and Ralph Beckett's Classic heroine edged past Emily Upjohn, who would eventually secure the third spot. However, this time it was the Ballydoyle filly who found another gear, achieving the late, great Galileo's 100th individual Group One victory.

This victory marked O'Brien's ninth Yorkshire Oaks win, tying the record, and highlights his dominance by securing four of the past five runnings of the mile-and-a-half event.
