Elliott Celebrates Seventh Troytown Victory with Stuzzikini

Gordon Elliott triumphs in the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase with Stuzzikini, securing an incredible seventh victory in this prestigious event, showcasing his unmatched expertise and talent in the world of horse racing.
Gordon Elliott has once again showcased his expertise in the Bar One Racing Troytown Handicap Chase, achieving his seventh triumph in this esteemed race, this time with Stuzzikini. After experiencing a setback with American Mike earlier in the day, Elliott’s keen eye for talent proved fruitful as Stuzzikini put on an exhilarating display under Gavin Brouder, securing a commanding victory.
Elliott had a strong presence in the race, entering nine horses in a field of 18, but it was Brouder and Stuzzikini who captured the spotlight. Earlier in the race, Jack Kennedy appeared poised to make a strong move on American Mike, as the horse advanced to the front four out. However, as the race unfolded, his challenge diminished, causing him to drop back and lose his chance of winning.
At the same time, Stuzzikini (20-1) was making a strong advance. As the competitors neared the last jump, the eight-year-old gelding trained by Elliott pulled ahead, leaving Lucid Dreams and Yeah Man behind by four and 15 lengths, respectively.
Elliott expressed his happiness after the race, providing a quick yet insightful review of his horse's triumph. 'It was brilliant! I tipped him on television yesterday and mentioned that he had a chance,' Elliott remarked. 'I always felt he was a horse that held back a bit, somewhat of a tricky character at times. However, today he found that extra gear, and Gavin rode him exceptionally well.' Elliott also noted the absence of Danny Gilligan, who was out due to a fall. Brouder, filling in for the injured jockey, certainly rose to the challenge, further enhancing his growing reputation.
This victory represented a significant milestone for Elliott, who has now achieved an impressive total of seven wins in the Troytown. "Winning seven Troytowns is incredible," he remarked, emphasizing the uniqueness of this achievement within his career.
A thrilled Brouder expressed his astonishment at Stuzzikini's stamina following the final jump, remarking, “I was amazed by how well I was performing from the last fence to the finish line. I couldn't stop smiling!” His happiness was clear, particularly considering the mixed emotions surrounding his ride.
Francis Foran, co-owner of Stuzzikini with VCS Versatile Coating Specialist Ltd, perfectly captured the essence of the day. “It's the first horse and it's magical! What a day, I almost stumbled coming out of the stands! The dream has come true,” Foran exclaimed, as the victory transformed a dream into reality for everyone involved.
The triumph of Stuzzikini not only solidified Elliott's stronghold in this competition but also reinforced his reputation as one of the sport's most perceptive trainers. For Brouder, his impressive performance on this significant platform is bound to create new opportunities for the skilled jockey in the years to come.
