"Elwateen Set for Group Two Showdown After Dazzling Debut Win!"

Impressive Kempton winner set to make a swift leap in class at Doncaster.

Elwateen Eyes Group Two Glory After Impressive Debut

Rising star Elwateen has quickly made her presence felt on the racing scene, and now all eyes are set on her next big challenge. Following a striking debut win at Kempton, the beautifully bred filly, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, is being aimed at the prestigious Betfred May Hill Stakes at Doncaster on September 12th. The Group Two race is shaping up to be the perfect platform for Elwateen to showcase her potential, and the racing world is eager to see if she can live up to the promise of her impeccable lineage.

A Promising Start

Elwateen, by the legendary stallion Dubawi out of the Prix Saint-Alary winner Tawkeel, has already generated considerable buzz with her performance at Kempton. Despite being only 80-85% fit, according to her trainer, she displayed a level of maturity and capability that has fueled high expectations for her future. "The filly came back good after the race," Saeed bin Suroor reported. "She’s doing well and is in good form. The way she ran the other day, she would have only been 80-85 percent fit, so we expect her to come on for the run, and she looks sound and healthy."

Bin Suroor’s confidence in Elwateen is evident, though he remains cautiously optimistic as he prepares her for what could be a defining race in her burgeoning career. "We'll give her time, but the Group Two for fillies at Doncaster, the May Hill, looks a nice option," he continued. "After that, the plan would be to run her in the Fillies' Mile."

Eyes on the Future

Elwateen’s debut was not just a victory but a statement of her potential. "I thought she always looked likely to win at Kempton," Bin Suroor reflected. "But I liked the way in the last furlong she really showed what she shows us in the morning. That is a good sign." Her ability to dig deep and finish strong bodes well for her chances at Doncaster, where she will face a higher level of competition.

Despite the success, Bin Suroor is mindful of the pressure that can come with such a promising start. "We don't put pressure on her at home; it's just easy work, but she will improve for the race," he explained. His approach has been to nurture her talent without rushing her development, allowing Elwateen to grow into her potential naturally. This patience could pay off handsomely if she continues to progress as expected.

Group Race Aspirations

With Elwateen’s pedigree and early performances, it's no surprise that Group race aspirations are already being discussed. "I hope she proves good enough to run in Group races," Bin Suroor said. "Her dam won a Group One over a mile and a quarter; you'd think 10 furlongs next year wouldn't be a problem, but a mile will be far enough this year." The careful planning of her path, balancing immediate goals with long-term potential, suggests that Elwateen could be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years.

As the Betfred May Hill Stakes approaches, the anticipation surrounding Elwateen’s next appearance is palpable. Racing fans and pundits alike are eager to see if she can convert her early promise into tangible success on the big stage. With the Fillies' Mile also on the horizon, the future looks bright for this exciting young filly. If Elwateen continues to develop as her connections hope, she could soon become a household name in the world of horse racing.
