Envoi Allen Ready for Return at Down Royal Race
Envoi Allen, guided by trainer Henry de Bromhead, is poised for his much-anticipated return at Down Royal's Ladbrokes Champion Chase, while stablemate Mystical Goddess targets success in the Feathard Lady Mares Novice Hurdle.
Envoi Allen is preparing for his return to the season in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase at Down Royal on Saturday. The 10-year-old, trained by Henry de Bromhead, is familiar with this prestigious race, having won it in 2022 and narrowly finishing second to Gerri Colombe by just a neck last season.
After finishing as the runner-up last year, Envoi Allen continued his campaign by securing second place in the Ryanair Chase and fourth in the Melling Chase at Aintree. Trainer Henry de Bromhead reports that the gelding is in excellent condition ahead of his return, saying, 'Envoi Allen seems in great form. We worked him the other day, and we hope to run him.'
Along with Envoi Allen, de Bromhead will have Mystical Goddess representing him, as she is scheduled to take part in Friday's Grade Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Feathard Lady Mares Novice Hurdle. Mystical Goddess left a strong impression during her first official race at Clonmel earlier this month, securing victory by an impressive four and three-quarter lengths.
De Bromhead is hopeful about her prospects as well, stating, 'Mystical Goddess won at Clonmel, and she is set to compete in the mares' novice hurdle on Friday. She has recovered well after Clonmel, and she is a lovely mare, so we are hopeful she will continue to improve.'
With both horses performing well, de Bromhead anticipates a competitive weekend at Down Royal.
