Exciting Racing Day: You Wear It Well Debuts Over Fences

Join us this Wednesday for a thrilling afternoon of racing, featuring the chase debut of Cheltenham Festival champion You Wear It Well, alongside exciting contests at Bangor-on-Dee, Lingfield, and Southwell. Don’t miss out!

This Wednesday, Sky Sports Racing presents an exhilarating afternoon of events, featuring exciting races from Bangor-on-Dee and Lingfield, alongside an evening meeting at Southwell. The highlight of the day is the chase debut of You Wear It Well, the Cheltenham Festival champion, as she makes her first foray over fences in the Listed Yorton Mares' Novices' Chase at Bangor.

At seven years old, You Wear It Well has already established herself as a powerful hurdler, boasting five victories, including the esteemed Mares' Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2023. Now, under the training of Jamie Snowden and with jockey Gavin Sheehan in the saddle, she is set to begin an exciting novice chase campaign. Given her impressive track record over hurdles, it is no wonder that she is regarded as a top contender for this event.

Nonetheless, the competition is quite challenging. Dan Skelton's West Balboa stands out as a significant contender, having demonstrated potential over hurdles with a commendable performance in last year's Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. Following an unsatisfactory debut in chasing at Worcester, West Balboa will need to elevate her performance swiftly to make a mark in this race.

The Irish competitor Shecouldbeanything, trained by Gordon Elliott and partnered with Sean Bowen, comes into the race with strong credentials. Having secured three victories from her four chase outings, she poses a significant challenge for You Wear It Well. Additionally, Space Tourist (Willie Mullins, Brian Hughes) and Casa No Mento (Nigel Twiston-Davies) add to the competitive atmosphere, further enhancing the strength of this Listed event.

At Lingfield, an impressive lineup is anticipated for the Listed BetMGM Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies' Stakes (2.40). Sacred Angel, trained by Charlie Johnston, makes her return to the track for the first time since a lackluster performance in the 1000 Guineas in May. This Group Three winner will be making her debut on all-weather surfaces with new jockey Billy Loughnane and will be aiming to find her best form once again.

On the other hand, Doom, trained by William Haggas, began the season with impressive showings in elite races but is now seeking to recover after a series of disappointing performances. Following a brief rest to recuperate, she remains a contender that cannot be overlooked, particularly considering her trainer's recent successes in this event.

Another entrant to keep an eye on is Iken, who secured a third-place finish behind Sparks Fly at Saint-Cloud, and then went on to achieve victory at the same location last weekend. Ornellaia, having finished third in the Irish 1000 Guineas, will also be aiming to contend for a leading position.

Given the impressive lineup on both cards, the afternoon promises to deliver exciting racing, with You Wear It Well expected to be the main attraction as she competes over fences for the first time.
