Fabre Confident in Mqse De Sevigne's Arc Prospects Over Extended Trip

Trainer unconcerned by 12-furlong test at ParisLongchamp.

Andre Fabre, the legendary eight-time Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning trainer, believes Mqse De Sevigne will thrive over the extended distance of 1½ miles in next month's Arc at ParisLongchamp. Despite never racing over this distance, Fabre is confident that the added two furlongs will bring out the best in his five-time Group One-winning mare.

Unbeaten in 2024 Mqse De Sevigne has enjoyed a flawless season, securing second wins in both the Prix Rothschild and Prix Jean Romanet. Although stepping up in trip, Fabre is adamant she will benefit from the longer distance: "So many people think the Arc may be too far for her, but I have the opposite opinion. She loves soft ground and her ability is unquestionable."

Stablemate Sosie a Major Contender Another strong contender from the Fabre stable is Sosie, who heads into the Arc in peak form after defeating Prix du Jockey Club winner Look De Vega in the Prix Niel. Fabre highlighted the colt’s improvement, noting that "he is coming good at the right moment." However, he also cautioned that heavy ground could pose a challenge for Sosie, whereas soft conditions would be ideal.

With both Mqse De Sevigne and Sosie in top form, Fabre expects them to be prominent in the race. "I wouldn't like to say one has the edge over the other, but I think both have a good chance of finishing in the top four," Fabre added confidently.

With the Arc fast approaching, Fabre’s team appears poised for another strong showing in Europe’s premier race.
