Field of Gold camp deliberating on the 'exciting colt's' next move
The Royal Lodge, Dewhurst and Lagardere are his three options.
After winning the Solario Stakes at Sandown, Connections will look at options for Field Of Gold on both sides of the Channel.
The Kingman colt fulfilled his promise when he opened his account with a facile victory at the July meeting in Newmarket, finishing third behind the eventual Listed winner New Century on his Doncaster debut. He then followed up at Group Three level in Esher.
The Juddmonte-owned grey, owned by John and Thady Gosden, is now expected to aim even higher. It is unclear, though, if this will happen at Newmarket in the Royal Lodge or the Dewhurst, or at Paris-Longchamp in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere on Arc weekend.
"I thought he did it very well, and we were absolutely delighted with him on Saturday," stated Barry Mahon, European racing manager for Juddmonte.
To be fair, Kieran Shoemark was fairly impressed with the horse, considering it is an inexperienced one. He is quite the professional.
"I thought he put the race to bed nicely; he's an exciting colt going forward. He felt when they crossed the line and the second horse (Matauri Bay) came to him, he took off again, so he probably wasn't doing much in front."
"I believe there are three options: Lagardere, Dewhurst, and Royal Lodge.
"We haven't made a decision and we'll see how the horse comes out of it and sit down with the owners in a week's time, but it will be one of them three, I would imagine."
