In the Sprint Cup, Montassib magic for Haggas and Fallon

Group One glory at Haydock goes to 25-1 chance.

At Haydock, Montassib emerged as the unexpected 25-1 victor of the Betfair Sprint Cup.

The six-year-old, who was ridden by Cieren Fallon and trained by William Haggas, had not raced since winning the Group Three Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle in June.

But he returned from that extended hiatus in fine fashion, coming from much off the pace to defeat Kind Of Blue, trained by James Fanshawe, and win Group One glory.

Unequal Love, a fellow Haggas prisoner, continued to take third place, while 50-1 shot Vadream narrowly placed fourth.

Fallon exclaimed, beaming: "What a performance, he's a horse you have to take your time and have trust in. I'm fortunate to continue working with him because he has only become better.

"To ride a Group One for Mr Haggas and Maureen (Haggas), I wouldn't be in the position I'm in today without them."
