Iroko skips Wetherby for Carlisle comeback on Sunday

Iroko, trained by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, skips the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby, opting for a return at Carlisle in the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase, aiming for a strong season start.

However, he faced a setback that initially took him off the track for the rest of the season. Thankfully, he made a comeback in the spring, finishing fifth in the Turners Novices' Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and then improving to achieve second place at Aintree.

Now, Iroko is preparing for his return this weekend, preferring the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase at Carlisle instead of the West Yorkshire event on Saturday. Greenall commented, 'We're hoping to head to Carlisle.'

He's in good shape. Although he may not look impressive at home, he's done plenty of work and managed it well. He will certainly gain from racing. There's also another intermediate chase at Haydock on Betfair Chase day, so if everything goes smoothly, he might run there as well.
