Jayarebe Set for Prix Dollar as Meehan Eyes Breeders' Cup Turf

Royal Ascot winner made Economics work for victory at Deauville.

As the leaves start changing colours and racing reaches its peak, much hype is building up for the upcoming Prix Dollar at ParisLongchamp, where Brian Meehan's yet unproven horse Jayarebe is going to come into the limelight. Having run a bold campaign that saw him conquer Hampton Court Stakes at the Royal Ascot, Jayarebe's subsequent runs have only been adding fuel to the already rising excitement among the enthusiastic fan following for this promising runner. His final start, when he ran home the winner of Economics in the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville, not only demonstrated his ability but also the impressive form he takes into the Elite Group Two assignment.

Meehan, who has been careful with his reins of late and has a penchant for bloodstock froths over young talent, was optimistic that Jayarebe is ready for Prix Dollar on Arc weekend. "The form looks robust," he said, highlighting the horse's competitive spirit and ability to adapt. With Jayarebe's experience against top-class rivals, including the recent Irish champion stakes winner, high expectations abound. A good run in Paris could position the horse for a bold move into the Breeders' Cup Turf, a huge jump in the career ladder of any horse.

But Jayarebe isn't the only attraction at Meehan's yard. The trainer is equally keen on his two juvenile stars, Law of Design and Rashabar, both of whom promise much. Law of Design, after a very commendable debut third to Poetic Dream at Newmarket, showed much growth by winning persuasively at Ascot. Plans for Meehan from him are flexible yet ambitious, with potential engagements in the Royal Lodge or Autumn Stakes according to his condition. "He is in terrific shape," Meehan believed in the summation of his target and the mentality displayed regarding what is being anticipated for him going forward.

Coventry Stakes hero Rashabar promises to make good as he takes on a battle-hardened field. Most noteworthy, however, is Rashabar's second-running in Prix Morny with Whistlejacket as his whisker-nose behind, also ensuring him legitimacy in being seen as a future champion. Trainer: "The trainer is considering running the horse in the Dewhurst Stakes and Jean-Luc Lagardere, which is prestigious. He also finds that both horses are sensitive and thus require great care and patience. The owners are very patient," he said, showing a willingness to try everything rather than rush into decisions.

Meehan's strategy focusses on near-term achievements, but at the same time, he also has a long-term vision regarding his horses. Each decision is made with great insight regarding what the sport requires and the special characteristics of its runners. This philosophy not only stems from his deep-rooted passion for racing but rings out through his articulate discussions about his horses' futures. The enthusiasm he exudes makes it very clear that every gallop and training session is filled with purpose and optimism.

As the curtain for Prix Dollar and Breeders' Cup Turf draws near, racing fans and experts halt their breaths and wait. Jayarebe's race in Paris is much more than another calendar entry; it's more of a defining moment that sets the direction of his career and that of his trainer. At the same time, Law of Design and Rashabar stand at the precipice of their glory, and autumn promises to be much ado about competitive spirit and thrilling races. This is true-to-life horse racing, for Meehan's perfect blend of ambition and careful planning shows where one wrong move could lead to glory, and every race tells a story of hope and dreams.

Well, as the fall leaves come tumbling down and excitement builds, there is one certainty: Brian Meehan's lawn has plenty of potential to breed, and the stage is set for quite an unforgettable season. With Jayarebe and most of his juvenile stars readying themselves for key races, the result is bound to be some of the finest performances on show, which might mark it in the racing landscape.
