Nostrum will go through Newbury instead of Haydock.
Superior Mile entry has Dubai Duty Free Cup target instead.
Nostrum will visit Newbury the following week instead of competing in the Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Superior Mile at Haydock on Saturday.
After showing great promise early in his career with victories in Group Three and Listed races in addition to a third-place finish in the Dewhurst, Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old finished last of six in the bet365 Mile at Sandown on his return in 2023.
But a gelding operation later that year seemed to have the desired outcome, as the Kingman son fared much better on his most recent racecourse appearance, coming in second to Noble Dynasty in the Criterion Stakes at Newmarket in July.
Although Nostrum's owners Juddmonte hope he can continue his comeback in the second part of the season, they will instead be relying on Andrew Balding's filly Clove Hitch this weekend on Merseyside, with Nostrum scheduled to compete in the Dubai Duty-Free Cup at Newbury on September 20.
Barry Mahon, European racing manager for Juddmonte, stated, "Clove Hitch is going to run at Haydock and Nostrum is going to wait for a Listed race at Newbury."
"Ryan Moore sat on Nostrum this morning and thought he felt great, so he's ready to come back."
Clove Hitch, who had a somewhat disappointing showing in the Coral Distaff at Sandown last time out, is heading to Haydock on somewhat of a retrieval mission.
Though she finished third behind the elite Economics at Newbury earlier in the season, she was not defeated by much, and on her penultimate run at the Berkshire track, she scored by an astounding eight lengths.
"Clove Hitch is going to take her chance at Haydock," Mahon continued. She truly emerged from the last day's Sandown race extremely sore, even though she looked excellent winning her maiden on soft ground. Ryan lost her action since she thought she was going to win the race.
"She came out of it quite sore, so we've given her a little freshen-up since then and Andrew is happy with her and she's moving well again."
