O’Brien and McDonogh Shine with Quickfire Double at Tipperary

Plenty to like about maiden winners.
Joseph O'Brien and Declan McDonogh delivered a spectacular performance at Tipperary, securing a double with Tennessee Stud and Dignam.
Tennessee Stud Triumphs
In the Camas Park Stud Irish EBF Maiden, Tennessee Stud, a Wootton Bassett colt, showcased his potential with a commanding victory. Having previously finished third at Galway, he was well-prepared for this nine-furlong race, which was won last year by Aidan O'Brien’s Irish Derby champion Los Angeles. Starting as a 5-1 outsider, Tennessee Stud made all the running and beat the favourite, Shackleton, by two and a quarter lengths. McDonogh praised the colt’s pace and adaptability, highlighting his performance on the tight track.
Dignam Claims the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden
Following this success, O'Brien and McDonogh teamed up again in the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden, where 4-9 favourite Dignam emerged victorious. Dignam, who had previously finished second at Gowran, won by a length and a quarter. McDonogh, noting the horse’s quality and turn of foot, described Dignam as somewhat inexperienced but promising for the future.
Malex Shines for Adrian Murray
In the Rockwell College Race, Adrian Murray’s Malex, wearing Amo Racing colours, won at 4-1. Previously trained by Michael O'Callaghan and Jorge Delgado in America, the five-year-old showed he still has plenty of ability, overcoming Star Galaxy by a length and a quarter. Murray was pleased with Malex’s return to form after an injury, noting that the horse had been working well at home.
These performances underscore O’Brien and McDonogh’s impressive form and suggest exciting prospects for their charges in the coming races.
