O’Brien and McDonogh Shine with Quickfire Wins at Tipperary
"Tennessee Stud Shines at Tipperary: Joseph O'Brien and Declan McDonogh's colt impresses in Camas Park Stud Irish EBF Maiden, eyeing future stakes potential."
Joseph O'Brien and Declan McDonogh celebrated a notable double at Tipperary, with Tennessee Stud and Dignam delivering impressive performances.
Tennessee Stud Takes Maiden Victory
Tennessee Stud, a Wootton Bassett colt, progressed from a debut third at Galway to secure the Camas Park Stud Irish EBF Maiden over nine furlongs. Priced at 5-1, the colt faced a competitive field, including Ballydoyle’s favourite Shackleton. McDonogh expertly guided Tennessee Stud from start to finish, clinching a decisive win by two and a quarter lengths.
McDonogh praised the colt's speed and adaptability, especially given the tight track conditions. “He showed some speed from the start and managed to overcome a challenging track,” McDonogh said. “He picked up well in the straight and could definitely progress to stakes races. He’s a beautiful, well-balanced horse who learned a lot from his previous experience.”
Dignam Triumphs in Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden
O'Brien and McDonogh continued their success with Dignam in the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden. The 4-9 favourite improved on a second-place finish at Gowran, winning by a length and a quarter. McDonogh, riding Dignam for the first time, noted the horse's strong turn of foot and potential for future success despite some inexperience. “He’s a solid horse with a good turn of foot. He felt like a quality sort, and with more experience, he’ll be even better,” McDonogh added.
Malex Wins Rockwell College Race
In the Rockwell College Race, Adrian Murray and David Egan guided Malex to victory. The five-year-old, previously trained by Michael O'Callaghan and Jorge Delgado in America, showcased his ability by defeating Star Galaxy by a length and a quarter. Murray was pleased with Malex’s performance, especially after overcoming an injury. “We weren't sure what to expect today, but he’s been working well at home and proved it on the track,” Murray commented. “He’s picked up a minor cut, but we hope he’ll recover quickly.”
These wins highlight a successful day for O'Brien and McDonogh, with promising prospects for their horses in future races.
