Ballydoyle colt Genealogy set for rise in class.
Ryan Moore’s debut at the prestigious Punchestown racecourse proved to be a landmark occasion, as he celebrated his first victory at the venue aboard Genealogy, a promising young horse trained by the legendary Aidan O’Brien. Genealogy, sired by Wootton Bassett, faced stiff competition but emerged triumphant in the William Hill Betting Done Properly Maiden, overcoming initial challenges and pushing past the early leader, Storm Piece, who had been the even-money favourite.
Storm Piece took an early advantage, setting a fast pace and looking strong. However, Genealogy, having already gained experience in the same course, gradually worked his way through the field. He fought off stablemate Acapulco Bay to secure a second-place finish and then powered ahead in the final stages, demonstrating determination and a powerful finish. Moore masterfully guided Genealogy to a convincing win, finishing with a lead and a half-length over the competition. The victory was particularly sweet for both the jockey and the O’Brien stable, making it a race neither will soon forget.

Stable representative Chris Armstrong praised Moore's ride, noting that Genealogy, despite being inexperienced, responded well under pressure. Moore's day began on a more disappointing note, as he finished fourth in the first race on the Ballydoyle favorite, Mint Candy, but his win with Genealogy demonstrated his resilience and skill, cementing his reputation as one of the sport's top jockeys.
Meanwhile, another jockey, Dylan Browne McMonagle, had a stellar day, achieving a treble with victories that included an impressive 8-1 win on Proleek Prince and a commanding ride on Shavasi in the William Hill Extra Place Races Daily Irish EBF Fillies Handicap. McMonagle's recent success, including a Group One victory in the National Stakes aboard Scorthy Champ, continued to showcase his exceptional talent and form. Reflecting on his achievements, McMonagle said, "It's been a great day. Things are going well, and long may it last."
Another highlight came when Star Harbour, trained by Ado McGuinness, won his seventh career race, guided to victory by 3lb claimer Adam Caffrey in the Happy 60th Birthday to Ger Dunne of Punchestown Race. Star Harbour’s performance added to his impressive career earnings, now nearing £200,000, much to the delight of his connections.
