Richard Spencer Eyes 2025 Classic Glory with Rising Stars Yah Mo Be There and Righthere Rightnow
In a bold move that signals long-term ambitions, trainer Richard Spencer has confirmed that his rising star, Yah Mo Be There, will not race again this year. Instead, the talented colt is being carefully prepared for a return in 2025, with Spencer already dreaming of Classic success.
Yah Mo Be There, owned by Phil Cunningham, first caught the racing world’s attention with a promising debut at York, where he was narrowly beaten by a short head. Although he faced disappointment in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, the son of Mohaather quickly rebounded, delivering an impressive victory in the Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury. This performance solidified his status as one of the most exciting prospects on the racing scene.
Despite the initial plans to step up Yah Mo Be There to seven furlongs and aim for group company in Doncaster's prestigious Champagne Stakes, Spencer has opted for a different path. "He won't run again this year; we're going to put him away and look forward to him next year," Spencer announced. "He will be trained for a Guineas trial in the spring."

The decision to rest Yah Mo Be There reflects Spencer's strategic vision, with the ultimate goal of securing a Classic win in 2025. The Guineas, one of the most coveted races in the British flat racing calendar, is clearly in Spencer's sights as he carefully maps out the colt’s future.
But the excitement doesn’t end there. Spencer has another ace up his sleeve in the form of Righthere Rightnow, a promising young colt who made a sensational debut at Newmarket. Donning the colors of long-time ally Cunningham, the Kodiac colt stormed to a five-length victory, instantly marking himself as a horse to watch.
"He was good and it was a pleasing result," Spencer reflected on Righthere Rightnow's debut performance. "He has been showing up well at home, and I didn't think he would win that far, but I thought he would be bang there. He's a lovely horse with a good mind, and he's an exciting horse for Phil and the team."

With such a dominant debut, it’s no surprise that connections are already eyeing bigger challenges. The Champagne Stakes at Doncaster has been highlighted as the next target for Righthere Rightnow, with Spencer hinting at even greater ambitions. "It's early to say, but we would be leaning towards the Champagne at Doncaster," Spencer said. "I don't think we will run him in the sales races because we have others to run in those races—we are going to treat him like a good horse because we think he is a good horse. We will lean towards the Champagne, and he will probably have a Dewhurst entry as well."
While still in the early stages of their careers, Yah Mo Be There and Righthere Rightnow have already captured the imagination of their connections, who are eagerly anticipating what the future holds. Spencer's careful planning and foresight underscore his confidence in these two colts, as he looks to navigate a path to Classic glory.
"There's a lot of water to pass under the bridge, but if we have to keep them apart, I imagine one will go to Newbury for the Greenham and the other will go to Newmarket for a trial there," Spencer explained. "You have to plan, and we like planning in advance—and hopefully, two exciting horses and a quick and exciting winter to get through with two nice horses for next year."
As the racing world turns its attention to the end of the 2024 season, all eyes will be on Richard Spencer and his dynamic duo. With Yah Mo Be There and Righthere Rightnow in his stable, Spencer is poised to make a significant impact in 2025. The anticipation is palpable, as fans and pundits alike begin to speculate on the heights these two colts could reach.
