Spirit Dancer Eyes Bahrain Trophy Defense at Newmarket

Spirit Dancer gears up for Bahrain International Trophy defense, retracing last year's successful path. Anticipation builds for global victory aspirations this winter.

Spirit Dancer is gearing up for his Bahrain International Trophy title defense at Newmarket next week, following the path he took a year earlier. Co-owned by former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Spirit Dancer has already tasted success in the Middle East, achieving wins in Bahrain and also securing the Neom Turf Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Connections are targeting further triumphs on the international stage this winter. However, before that, the seven-year-old descendant of Frankel – also bred by Ferguson – will head to the Rowley Mile to compete in the Space Blues Darley Stakes on October 12, where he finished fourth last year.

Fahey stated, 'Spirit Dancer is in excellent form. He will compete in a preparatory race at Newmarket in the Darley Stakes, following the same route as last year. Our experience in Bahrain was incredible, and the team is looking forward to returning this year.'

The $1 million Bahrain International Trophy, set for November 15, has drawn 61 initial entries. The notable competitors include Luxembourg, trained by Aidan O'Brien; Nashwa, from the stable of John and Thady Gosden; and Ambiente Friendly, the Derby runner-up trained by James Fanshawe.
