Champion's Journey: Overcoming Injury and Embracing Recovery

"Embracing resilience on the road to recovery, I am determined to overcome setbacks, refocus my goals, and return to competitive riding stronger than ever, while promoting responsible gambling and safety in our sport."

The journey back to rehabilitation after an injury is always challenging, but I’m happy to report that I am making good progress. As any experienced professional understands, navigating the physical and mental challenges of recovery requires not only time for healing but also a significant amount of patience and resilience. After experiencing my latest setback, I remain optimistic, and I can see that I am on the path to recovery.

At the conclusion of the last season, I found myself off the field due to an injury that necessitated a significant recovery period. Regrettably, earlier this month I encountered another setback — a broken collarbone sustained from an unexpected schooling incident while in Ireland. This injury impacts the same collarbone as before, but it has occurred further out towards the acromioclavicular (AC) joint, making it a slightly different situation. Experiencing a recurrent injury is never easy, yet as any seasoned professional in this sport can attest, it's an inherent aspect of the journey.

The rehabilitation process is always intricate and requires careful attention. Fortunately, I am pleased to say that everything is moving along as planned, and I am on the right path. The rehabilitation team has been outstanding in making sure that all necessary steps are taken for proper healing. Next week, I will be able to begin more intensive rehabilitation exercises. This will enable me to start putting a little more weight on the injured area, which is a crucial step that will accelerate my recovery and bring me closer to getting back to the track.

It's always encouraging to see the bone healing, but it's even better when the shoulder begins to loosen and movement is restored. I’m happy to report that healing is advancing on both counts. Although I still have a significant journey ahead to achieve full fitness, each day brings positive progress, and I feel optimistic about the path I'm on.

Injuries are, without a doubt, an unavoidable aspect of the sport, but they also provide an opportunity to reevaluate and regain focus. This period of inactivity is beneficial in various ways, whether for physical healing or a chance to contemplate the mental resilience needed to return even stronger. My commitment to coming back to the sport I cherish remains unwavering, and this setback has not altered that resolve.

That being said, I remain optimistic about a quick recovery. While it's difficult to specify an exact timeline for this process, I am looking forward to getting back to what I love most. The important thing right now is to approach each day as it comes, adhere to the rehabilitation plan, and allow my body to heal at its own pace.

It's essential to recognize our responsibility within the sport. I take pride in promoting the importance of safer gambling. For anyone participating in betting, it's vital to gamble responsibly. While the excitement of the sport can be exhilarating, it's crucial to approach gambling with care and mindfulness. Only wager what you can afford to lose, and remember that support is available for anyone who needs it. Resources like the National Gambling Helpline and GamCare are always accessible for assistance.

I am eagerly anticipating the moment when I can resume competitive riding, and in the meantime, I will maintain my focus on the recovery journey. Thank you for your unwavering support, and I am excited to reunite with all of you at the track soon.
